The International Rotary Club has donated 10 wheel Chairs to the Cardinal Adam Memorial Hospital with a pledge of organising constant seasonal medical camps.
International Rotary Club president-elect Gary Huang, who made the donation in the company of Rotary club of Lusaka president, Zarina Geloo and other Rotary Club local members, commended the Catholic Church in Zambia for the initiative of setting up a hospital. He has urged the hospital administration to expose the hospital to members of the public.
“This is a wonderful facility, very neat, but it should be exposed to the community for them to appreciate it. Through the local Rotary Club, I will help organise constant seasonal medical camps here for various medical needs” Mr. Huang said.
He explained that the Rotary Club International has many members with wide experience in different medical fields that could be tapped-into with the view to set up medical camps to examine and offer free medical solutions to the surrounding communities.
“When we set up a series of free medical camps here for two weeks or so to exam tooth problems, eye diseases, blood pressure and other medical problems, it shall help to raise the profile of the hospital. So I ask you, the local Rotary, to start arranging for accommodation of this medical team” Mr. Huang said.
And Mr Huang further urged the Cardinal Adam Memorial Hospital management to partner with international medical training schools so that medical students could come for their hands-on experience at the hospital. “That shall help you. . . young students may come and work and here at no cost in various fields” He advised.
In welcoming the donation of the wheel chairs, Cardinal Adam Memorial hospital medical doctor, Stephen Yates, described the donation as valuable and assured that the wheel chairs would be to put to good use.
Mr. Huang, accompanied by his wife, further pledged to help acquire a standby power generator to mitigate against frequent power outages in the area.
The Cardinal Adam Memorial Hospital is situated off Lusaka’s Leopards Hill Road in the vicinity of the Bauleni Township.
