Solwezi Diocese Bishop Rt. Rev. Charles Kasonde has commended priests’ commitment to pastoral work in his diocese. Bishop Kasonde said this is despite the challenges they are facing. “Some of you [Priests] are facing many challenges in implementing pastoral programmes in your parishes but you are able to carry out the works amidst challenges”, said Bishop Kasonde. And Bishop Kasonde has noted the lack of connection of some parishes to national electricity grid, bad roads, poverty among the people and many other hardships as negatively impacting pastoral work success in some parishes. Bishop Kasonde however has expressed hope that with the Lord’s help, the on-going Infrastructure development taking place in the Northwestern province, some parishes in far places will benefit from the development. “Some parishes situated in far-flung places like Lwawu, Chinyingi, Mushindamo among others have bad roads that are hampering the smooth operations of vehicles and other pastoral tools, but with the help of the Lord and what the government is doing, we remain hopeful that one day all will be well”, concludes Bishop Kasonde. Bishop Kasonde said this in his opening remarks during the Presbyteral Council Meeting for priests working in Solwezi diocese held at St. Kizito Pastoral Center in Solwezi on Tuesday, 10th October 2017. Presbyteral Council Meeting is the gathering of priests whose role is the advisory capacity in assisting the Bishop in the governance of the diocese by addressing matters concerning the pastoral and social welfare of the people of God in the diocese.
