Pontifical Mission Society (PMS) National Director, Fr. Edwin Mulandu
As the Catholic Secretariat in Lusaka joins Mother Church in observing World Mission Sunday, Zambia’s Pontifical Mission Society (PMS) National Director, Fr. Edwin Mulandu says that all are invited to offer material support for the care of Christian communities in need and supporting the proclamation of the Gospel.
Speaking in his homily on Tuesday 25th October 2016 during weekly Eucharistic celebration at the Catholic Secretariat, Fr. Mulandu also said that all are also called to open the hearts to Missionary ecclesial communion, to the needs of all of humanity and go out as Missionaries. “On this World Mission Sunday, all of us are invited to go out as missionary disciples, each generously offering their talents, creativity, wisdom and experience in order to bring the message of God’s tenderness and compassion to the entire human family,” he said. Fr Mulandu added that by the virtue of the missionary mandate, the Church cares for those who do not know the Gospel, because she wants everyone to be saved and to experience the Lord’s love. Quoting Pope Francis who said that “the church is commissioned to announce the mercy of God, the beating heart of the Gospel and to proclaim mercy in every corner of the world, reaching every person, young or old,” Fr. Mulandu exhorted all to go out and give oneself generously as Missionary disciples offering talents, creativity, experience, qualifications and giftedness in order to bring the Gospel of tenderness and compassion to the entire human family. He also reminded Catholic secretariat staff to offer material support for the care of Christian communities in need and for supporting the proclamation of the Gospel. “I invite you my brothers and Sisters in Christ the rest of this Month to; get involved in proclaiming the good news at our Parish, reach out to those in other dioceses especially those who may not be as privileged as ourselves, open ourselves to the needs of others and make special offerings to the needs of the Church. Each one of us is called upon to generously give in accordance with what God has given to him or her,”he concluded. On Mission day Catholics all over the world are reminded of their common responsibility for the evangelization of the world.
