Diocese of Chipata is next month expected to start constructing a school of Nursing at Lumezi Mission Hospital in Lundazi District. Chipata Diocese Health Coordinator Fr Samuel Phiri reveals that over USD 1,896.65 has so far been sourced from Parishioners and other people of good will within Chipata Diocese towards the construction of the Nursing school. “This idea came as a result of a numerous calls from people within the diocese for the church to build a Nursing school. So it will be built to help school leavers in Eastern Province of Zambia that are interested in training as nurses” Father Phiri said. Father Phiri who also said that a go ahead from the Zambia’s General Nursing Council has been given, further indicated that the community from within where the nursing school is planned for has already started moulding bricks for the construction of the health tertiary institution. “This Nursing school is expected to be completed in 2018 and will be offering a 3 year diploma course in Registered Nursing course” He said. Father Phiri made this revelation to Radio Maria Zambia. Chipata Diocese covers the entire eastern province of Zambia.
