Government has thanked the Catholic Church in Lukulu district of Mongu diocese for supplementing its efforts in supporting girl child education.

Ministry of Gender permanent secretary Daisy Ng’ambi said the Catholic Church is making it ease for girls to attend school regularly by providing accommodation for girls who come from far-flung areas.
Ms. Ng’ambi said this in Lukulu when she visited a girls’ dormitory built by the church in the area.
“This is a very good move by the Church the cooperate world should emulate what the Church is doing by paying back to the communities as corporate social responsibility,” Ms. Ng’ambi said.
She said government is ready to partner with stakeholders working to uplift the living standards of girls and supporting their education.
And Father Lazarous  Kayuni from Santa Maria Parish in Lukulu district said the Church built the dormitory to help girls who walk long distances to get to school.
Fr. Kayuni said the facility was built in July this year at the cost of K35,000 and accommodates more than 40 girls.
And a grade 10 pupil who said some of her peers have dropped out of school due to distance and early marriages, thanked the Catholic Church for the development.
