The Diocese of Mpika has embarked on the construction of a 200 bed space hospital at its Katibunga mission with the help from Benedictine Monastery.
This is in a bid to supplement government’s efforts in the delivery of health care to the general public.
Katibunga Mission Priest In -Charge, Father Joseph Besa disclosed the development during a stakeholders meeting held recently at the mission.
Father Besa said that the project which commenced late last year has now reached roof level and will be done in three phases.
He said works on the first phase which includes, Out-Patient Department and the Administration block have so far gobbled more than US $25 thousand and will be complete and commissioned before the end of the year.
And Project Manager Father Willbroad Njota said construction of the health facility at Katibunga is purely community driven with financial support from the Benedictine Monastery.
