Caritas Zambia Executive Director, Mr. Samuel Mulafulafu has implored the government to do within its powers to raise the living stands of Zambians and not leave it to the Church.
He said this at Caritas-Zambia Media Day held on Thursday, 09 July 2015 at Kapingila, in Lusaka, Zambia.
“Although the pastoral mission of the Church is to assist in the integral development of human person, its role should be more in advocacy to prompt the state to do what it is supposed to do” Mr. Mulafulafu said.
He further added that the government has the means available to set up institutions such as schools and hospitals to alleviate poverty from the money collected through taxes.
He added that the Church cannot solve all the problems of Zambians but it would do what it can within its power and resources and that the Church was also limited in its resources.
“Under great sacrifice and partnership with the benefactors, the church is doing its best in helping the vulnerable in society” He noted.
