Rt. Rev. Patrick Chilekwa Chisanga, OFM. Conv. Bishop of Mansa

•Appointed Bishop of Mansa on 30th November 2013 and ordained Bishop 1st February, 2014 by Archbishop Ignatius Chama

Bishop Chisanga completed his secondary school at Chifubu in 1990 while residing at Ndola Minor Seminary. In 1990 he entered St. Joseph’s Formation house as a Postulant in the Order of Friars Minor Conventual. From 1991 to 1992, he did his Novitiate in Solwezi, Zambia. He made his temporally vows on August 9, 1992.

 

Between 1992 and 1995, Bishop Chisanga studied at St. Bonaventure College in Lusaka where he obtained a Diploma in Philosophy and Franciscan studies. From 1995 to 1999, he went to Tangaza College in Nairobi, Kenya where he obtained a degree in Theology and Religious Studies.

 

Bishop Chisanga made his perpetual vows in the Order of Friars Minor Conventual on August 9, 1998 and was ordained priest on June 27, 1999. He was appointed Parish Priest of Sts. Michael and Noah Parish in Kitwe, Zambia (1999-2001), Vice Guardian at St Bonaventure College and Assistant Parish Priest of Chawama Parish in Lusaka (2001-2006). His other appointments include Director of Formation for the students of Theology and Lecturer of Psychology at St. Bonaventure College, Lusaka (2012-2013).

 

Bishop Chisanga has a Licentiate degree in Clinical Psychology from Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome (2006). He was Minister Provincial of Conventual Franciscans in Zambia and Malawi from 2008 to 1212.
